Saffron
Saffron is the world's most valuable spice, called "red gold." Approximately 150,000 flowers are needed to produce one kilogram. Iran, Spain and Turkey's Safranbolu district are the main production centers. Used as food coloring, in perfumery and medicine, saffron is more valuable than gold by weight.
